darwin's view
Darwin's View is a quilt that I created as
an Homage to a window in
theDarwin D. Martin house in Buffalo, New
York, designed by Frank
Lloyd Wright. All of the fabrics are
hand dyed using Procion fiber reactive
dyes. They are colorfast and resist
fading. Each piece of fabric was
dyed specifically to match the original
window. Hand made bias tape was
used to replicate the leading of the window.
The quilting mimics what one
might see through the window - a tree, grass,
and sky with clouds. The
quilting is only done on the white background,
representing the clear
portions of the glass.
Darwin's View is approximately 18" x 22".
